For cost reasons. This new can is shorter but wider to better fit the the chip. The new container can hold just as many chips but is more cost effective and easier to grab a chip because of the bigger opening.

I also think there is 23cm2 spaces in the first picture because the thought process goes a little something like this i counted the spaces and if there were any stragglers i add them up and got twenty three.

because if you need to put something inside of it you need to know how much will fit for example if you need a toolbox for tools to work on your you will need a big enough toolbox to fit all of your tools into.
