So this big deal we call eminent domain in my eyes I see it as a good thing in the fact that if the land being claimed by the government is used for a purposeful cause such as in the case of in china where the mans house was being bought for the construction of a school which in ways I guess I am kind of thinking in the ways of Communitarianism because if the purchase of the land is beneficial to the people then it Is ok. Another prime example of this is the interstate system that the government made by purchasing privately owned land and turning it over into a mass transit system that has benefited people for countless years. If the peoples price is matched on the land it really shouldn’t be a big deal. Now if a government takes the land for developing more houses or buildings that are corporate businesses that don’t help the community at all that is just ridiculous that they can take your land for that and in tern in the ways of eminent domain that should be unacceptable yet it isn’t which is why it is such a sore and iffy subject because it can be a useful tool where everyone can be happy but it is also a doubled bladed knife in the sense that it can be used in the exact reverse way stealing land from independent hard working people in society and that might be all they own but the government doesn’t care they could take the land and build a strip mall which really wouldn’t benefit society at all.
